Joe Welfeld
Joe Welfeld has advised multiple successful projects for The Triana Group since 2014. He has brought to our engagements his extensive experience working with hospitals, managed care organizations, healthcare organizations, physician groups, and technology vendors. He has broad management and consulting experience on both the strategic and operational levels in Managed Care and Payor contracting activities as well as alternate reimbursement and Value-based models such as Accountable Care (ACO), Patient-Centered Medical Homes (PCMH) and Episodes of Care/Bundling.
Most recently, Mr. Welfeld was Vice President of RelayHealth, and Regional Vice President of the Hay Group where he worked with numerous hospital and physician organizations on strategic initiatives and managed care strategies. Earlier, as President & CEO of Affiliated Physicians Network, Inc., he was responsible for leading a start-up, physician-owned organization focused on clinical case rates for oncology services and developed comprehensive case rates supported by actuarial analysis. He was also the Principal of McManis Associates, where he was responsible for health care consulting projects with primary focus on hospital-physician integration and physician alignment strategies. Prior to these positions, Mr. Welfeld was Regional Vice President and CEO of Ocean State Physicians Health Plan / United Healthcare, where he was responsible for overall management of a start-up physician-owned IPA model managed care organization and positioned it for acquisition by United Healthcare Corporation. During his tenure, Ocean State was recognized #2 in the Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing privately held corporations in the country.
Mr. Welfeld is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He holds an MBA in Healthcare Administration.
