General Manager / Business Development Manager – U.S. Division of Civil Engineering Technology Company

The US civil engineering industry is expected to grow to $277.5 billion by 2018 and OSMOS is looking to become the main player in its field. Job Summary

The General Manager is responsible for maintaining the vision, mission and core values of the company, as well as defining and directing the organization’s resources to achieve its strategic and operating goals, while maintaining a strong client focus. The position is accountable to the CEO and is responsible for the performance of all functions within the US team, serving as the liaison with the executive team at headquarters, key accounts, partner organizations, appropriate government agencies, subcontractors and other stakeholders. Strategy is developed in conjunction with the executive team in France.

The primary focus of this position revolves around the areas of business development, sales and leadership. The General Manager must be revenue-growth oriented and able to lead sales initiatives, while successfully maintaining day-to-day managerial duties. The incumbent is responsible for aligning all functions, systems and processes within the US office and building organizational commitment to common goals. The General Manager will also hire, lead and manage the US office’s team, ensuring that the necessary process and personnel are in place for optimal functionality and collaboration.

Major Responsibilities

● Manages the sales function and actively seeks and secures new sales opportunities
● Develops and grows relations with diverse public and private sector partners and stakeholders
● Accomplish subsidiary objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; and by making mid-course corrections.
● Develops (with HQ and US teams) the overall vision and culture of the US office, including marketing, publicity/press relations, government relations, etc.
● Oversees day-to-day US operations.
● Models and encourages an environment of service excellence and continuous improvement.
● Increase management’s effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, training, coaching, counseling his/her sales team

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be someone with an entrepreneurial mindset and able to fit within the existing culture and processes. He/she will have:
● At least 5 years of business development experience in civil engineering if applying for a business development manager position; at least 15 years of progressively responsible management experience in civil engineering if applying for the General Manager position.
● A civil engineering degree with a strong sales experience in a field related to structural engineering.
● A broad knowledge of large contract negotiation processes in addition to budgeting, management and accounting principles as well as an understanding of construction and civil engineering best practices.
● A proven understanding of the US construction and civil engineering industries.
● Ability to create and leverage business and political networks.
